Katie Dougherty

Katie Dougherty is the Communications Director for Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC). As Communications Director, Katie oversees the organization’s strategic communications and ensures alignment with overall and departmental goals. She manages media coverage of events, policy, and research; designs, edits, and formats AEDC reports; and communicates with policymakers, AEDC investors, economic developers, and the public through a variety of platforms, including social media, electronic newsletters, the AEDC website, and more.

Before joining AEDC, Katie worked for Mayor Ethan Berkowitz, first as a Project Manager in the Office of Economic and Community Development (OECD) then as manager of digital communications for the Mayor’s Office.

Katie was born and raised in Anchorage. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Colorado College, and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She believes in the power of information to unlock community engagement and conversation – the path to great policymaking.
