Winter 2023 Newsletter: Reflecting, Honoring, and Looking Ahead

In this issue, Alaska Common Ground (ACG) looks back on an active year and prepares for the work ahead in 2024. We reflect on key events, honor a remarkable Alaskan leader, and share ways you can get involved.

Remembering Vic Fischer – This fall, we said goodbye to former ACG board member and Alaska Constitutional Convention delegate Vic Fischer. His life’s work in democracy, civic participation, and social justice leaves a lasting legacy.

Fiscal Policy & Budget Conversations – In 2023, ACG hosted events on Alaska’s fiscal future, including legislative updates, annual meeting discussions, and forums on retirement reform and renewable energy legislation.

Get Involved in 2024 – The legislative session begins January 16. Now’s the time to connect with your legislators, explore tools like Commonwealth North’s Alaska Budget Choices 2.0, and prepare to engage on key issues.

New Board Member – We welcome Likka McCauley, an experienced Alaska educator and advocate for collaboration and informed decision-making.

Thank You to Our Sponsors – Northrim Bank, GCI, and Fashion Pact for supporting our work and our mission this year.
