Alaska Common Ground has worked to educate Alaskans about the complexities around the state’s high health care costs and potential solutions to address them.

We do this by hosting moderated discussions and engaging with policymakers and other experts to deliberate viable policy pathways forward. We have also created materials to aid in understanding this complicated issue including practical advice on how to control your doctor and hospital bills.

Alaska has some of the highest health care costs in the country. This has very real personal, economic, and fiscal consequences for every individual, family, business, and government across Alaska.

To effectively engage in discussions regarding practical and policy solutions, Alaskans need a working knowledge of health care topics on possible fixes such as transparency in pricing and task-shifting to more systemic approaches such as establishing a single-payer system and addressing the 80th percentile rule. ACG is invested in ensuring Alaskans understand the facts, causes, consequences, and potential solutions.
