About Us

History

Alaska Common Ground was incorporated in 1991 as a membership supported, non-profit, non-partisan organization that focuses on Alaska’s public policy issues.

Our mission is to collect and distribute information about Alaskan issues and problems, facilitate discussion, and to develop public policy, knowledge, and understanding among Alaskans. We do this through forums, reports, group dialogue, and media.

ACG is run by a Board of Directors and relies primarily on volunteer energy, drawing on the knowledge and expertise of members and interested citizens to organize its various projects. The Board is supported by a part-time contracted staff position. The majority of ACG’s operating budget consists of both membership dues, and donations from generous Alaskans.

ACG encourages dialogue through forums, reports and policy papers, moderator training, and public service announcements (PSAs). Through cooperation with many other organizations, we are able to broaden the scope of our activities and increase participation.
