The Future of the PFD

Alaska Common Ground hosted a moderated panel discussion on the future of the Permanent Fund Dividend,in Palmer. The event featured a brief presentation on the history and budgetary effects of the PFD, followed by a moderated panel exploring three different policy perspectives on the PFD’s structure and implementation going forward.

Panelists included Brad Keithley, Managing Director of Alaskans for Sustainable Budgets; Larry Persily, journalist; and Angela Rodell, principal, Rodell Consulting. Alexei Painter with the Alaska Legislative Finance Division provided a brief history of the PFD.

The panel was moderated by Gunnar Knapp, Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Alaska Anchorage and the Institute of Social and Economic Research, and Tom Hewitt, Opinion Editor for the Anchorage Daily News.
