Alaska is one big state with major differences in cultures and life styles, yet we are one state. Understanding by urban Alaskans of the concerns and aspirations of rural Alaskans is vital. At the same time, it is important the rural Alaskans develop a similar understanding of urban Alaskans. We can learn from each other and build better relationships.
Alaska Common Ground has held forums on rural subsistence, governance, education, and justice equality that were broadcast statewide. We continue to explore better ways of building the needed bridges of understanding and respect.
